Steph Curry is a great basketball player and probably the best player in the world right now. He is the best shooter ever and will destroy his current record of 286 made three pointers this season. However he should not be ranked 23rd in the All-Time ranking.
If Curry continues to play at a high level for a few more years then yes he should be ranked high. This is his 7th season, his 3rd All-Star season and his 2nd Superstar season. I’m sorry to be considered a great player in this game you have to do it for a long time. He won his first MVP last season and most likely will win another one this season. He is at that point in his career when he can take off and be one of the greats.
Curry had a decent rookie season but eventually he had ankle problems that hinder his performance. During the 2011-12 season he was limited to only 26 games. He bounced back the following season and broke the record for made 3-pointers with 272 but he still did not make the All-Star team. He did lead the Warriors to the 2nd round of the playoffs. That playoff run put Steph on the map as a guy to watch.
The following year he made the All-Star team and hit another 261 three pointers which is good enough for 5th best in a season. The Warriors were knocked out in the 1st round of the playoffs but Steph was making his case as the best shooter ever. He was healthy, he improved as a playmaker and he was becoming a star. Golden State was fun to watch and Steph was hitting shots from 30 feet with ease.
The following year he breaks the record for most three pointers in a season. The Warriors surprised us all by finishing the season with 67 wins as they went on to win the NBA Championship. It was a great story for Steph especially after all his ankle problems. Steph hit 98 3-pointers during the playoffs which obliterated the previous record of 58 that Reggie Miller had in 2000.
Before this season many experts picked a bunch of different teams to finish with the best record including the Rockets, Warriors, Spurs and Thunder. NOBODY knew the Warriors would be this good this season. NOBODY knew Steph would be this great. It’s not even the All-Star break and he has already hit 232 three pointers which ranks as the 10th best season ever and is better than any season Reggie Miller ever had.
We are all witnessing something great and it is very exciting to watch. However great players have longevity and Steph does not have that yet. New fans might think Steph just started playing but again this is his 7th season. This will be his 3rd season as an All-Star and he after winning an MVP award he has become a superstar. He’s a great player but he just has to do it for a few more seasons to validate such a high rank.
