The Good, Bad and Ugly (11.1 - 11.6)

The Good

The Cleveland Cavaliers are the last unbeaten in the league. They are 6-0 heading into their game against the Hawks on Tuesday. The big 3 have found the perfect balance as Kyrie leads them in scoring at 23 ppg, LeBron is next at 22.8 ppg and Kevin Love is averaging 21.7 ppg. They fire off 34 3-pointers a game and connect at a 38% rate. LeBron also moved into 10th place on the all-time scoring list passing Hakeem Olajuwon.

DeMar DeRozan – He has been on a tear to start the season. Sunday was the first time he failed to score at least 30 points in a game this season. He’s averaging 35 ppg and 5 rpg. He still doesn’t shoot 3-pointers but he gets to the line nine times a game. At the moment he’s averaging 25 shots per game but he’s still shooting 55%.

Los Angeles Lakers – The Lakers have four wins this season and have won three straight games. They didn’t get their 4th win until December 15th last season. Three wins have come against playoff teams including a convincing 20-point win against the Golden State Warriors. It’s only been seven games but they are a better team than last season. They play well together and compete for coach Luke Walton. The Lakers are fun to watch.

Gordon Hayward makes his season debut against the Knicks

Gordon Hayward – He made his season debut against the Knicks on Sunday. He played 36 minutes, got to the line 14 times and hit all his free throws while scoring 28 points to help the Jazz beat the Knicks on the road.

James Harden – He became the first player in Rockets history with at least 40 points, 15 assists and 5 rebounds in a game. Last season Harden had five games with at least 14 assists. This season he already has three such games. At the moment he has increased his FG% from 43% last season to 50% this season.

The Bad

DeMarcus Cousins scored 30 points against the Miami Heat but somehow managed to pick up all 6 of his fouls in the 4th quarter. The Kings would lose in overtime.

Kevin Durant faced off against Russell Westbrook. The game was not competitive and was over by halftime. While Westbrook struggled to get anything going, KD scored 29 points in the first half. The Warriors easily won by 26 points.

The Philadelphia 76ers blew an 18-point lead against the Orlando Magic to remain winless. They lost on a weird play which led to a flagrant foul on Serge Ibaka. He went on to sink both free throws. In the lost Joel Embiid had his first double-double.

After a 3-0 start to the season the Chicago Bulls have dropped three in a row. Two of the losses were to teams they have beaten earlier in the season (Celtics and Pacers).

The Ugly

The Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans remain winless on the early season.

The Pelicans are now 0-6 for the second straight season. In their most recent lost they allowed Devin Booker to score nine straight points to send the game into overtime. They then lost on a TJ Warren dunk.

The San Antonio Spurs were blown out twice on their home floor. First there was a 15-point loss to the Utah Jazz then they were run off the floor by the LA Clippers by 24 points. The Spurs only loss one game at home last season.
