The Sacramento Kings have a dominate post player in DeMarcus Cousins. He has played for a few coaches and has had a quite a few point guards. They haven’t been able to find a suitable running mate for him either.
6) Sacramento Kings – Emmanuel Mudiay (PG – China)
The Kings need an upgrade at the point guard position. Mudiay has been compared to John Wall which is high praise. At 6’5 he’s a big point guard who can attack off the pick & roll but he’s also a willing passer. It is a point guard league now and the bigger the better.
He will be a complement to both Cousins and Ben McLemore in the backcourt. McLemore had a better sophomore season and his numbers improved across the board.
Mudiay is a willing defender and he will need to be especially if he ends up in the Western Conference. He gives the Kings size and toughness at the point guard position. His jumper has to be more consistent but his form is not terrible. While overseas he shot 47% from the field and 34% from beyond the arc. He only shot 57% on free throws.
He is an excellent athlete who should thrive in George Karl’s system. He will be great in transition alongside McLemore and Rudy Gay. DeMarcus Cousins played with John Wall at Kentucky so he will know better than anyone if Mudiay is a similar player.
