Games to watch tonight: Grizzlies @ Bulls, Warriors @ Suns

There are two good games to look for tonight in the NBA. The Memphis Grizzlies take on the Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors head to Phoenix to take on the Suns.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Chicago Bulls – NBATV 8:00pm

The Gasol brothers meet again.

The Grizzlies are on a four game road trip. They dropped the first game against the Pelicans on Saturday. Memphis is still 2nd in the Western Conference just a game ahead of the Rockets.

The Bulls are dealing with a bunch of injuries and have dropped two straight. They are now 3rd in the Eastern Conference.

Both teams used to be known for their defense. The Grizzlies are still number one in points allowed per game while the Bulls are 12th. Chicago use to grind out victories, now they have sacrificed their defense for better offense.

The big man matchups in this game will be great. It will be interesting to see Joakim Noah-Pau Gasol against Marc Gasol-Zach Randolph.

Recently Noah has played with better energy. His scoring is not great but in his last five games he is averaging 10.6 rpg and 8.0 apg. Coach Thibodeau runs a lot of the offense through Noah with Butler and Rose out. Pau has been a double-double machine and leads the NBA with 42.

Both Gasol and Randolph struggled in Memphis’ lost to the Pelicans on Saturday. They were both held under 10 points.

The X-factor for the Grizzlies will be Mike Conley. He has played some good basketball recently and should look to take advantage of his matchup with Aaron Brooks. On the side Nikola Mirotic has looked good for the Bulls off the bench recently. He is averaging 21.4 ppg and 7.2 rpg in his last five games.

Golden State Warriors @ Phoenix Suns – League Pass 10:00pm

The Warriors are coming off a convincing victory over the L.A. Clippers on Sunday afternoon. They are first in defensive rating and are 7-3 in their last 10 games.

The Suns are fighting for a playoff spot and picked a bad time to play bad basketball. They are 4-6 in their last 10 but are still only two games behind the Thunder for that 8th spot.

These two teams split their two meetings earlier this season which each team winning on their home floor. This will be the first time the Warriors face the new look Suns with Brandon Knight in the backcourt with Eric Bledsoe.

The Suns rested yesterday so they should come out with better energy than the Warriors. They need this game more than the Warriors.

The backcourt matchup of Curry-Thompson against Bledsoe-Knight will be interesting. However the most interesting matchup might be between whoever the Suns put on Draymond Green when the Warriors go with a small lineup.

On Sunday against the Clippers, Green was able to knock down some shots which then made the big men of the Clippers close out hard. Green used his shot fake to get into the lane and find some open teammates. He led the game with 23 points.

The Morris twins and P.J. Tucker will have their hands full with Draymond Green. He does so much for the Warriors on both ends of the floor.

Knocking down a three pointer would really help the Suns out in this game. In their last two games they are 12-51 from downtown. The Warriors hit 10 three pointers against the Clippers on Sunday.
