There are 11 games on the schedule tonight in the NBA. The two ESPN games are Chicago Bulls at Washington Wizards and then Cleveland Cavaliers at Golden State Warriors. The Cavs-Warriors game would be a must watch if LeBron was playing.
The Bulls-Wizards game should be very good. The matchup of Derrick Rose and John Wall is must watch basketball. The Wizards are a game behind the Bulls in the standings.
The surprise game to watch tonight is the Atlanta Hawks at Detroit Pistons. Both teams are playing very well and they have beaten some good Western Conference teams recently.
Atlanta Hawks @ Detroit Pistons 7:30 PM
The Hawks are 27-8 and sitting in first place in the Eastern Conference. They do a great job of moving the ball around which is why they are third in assists. They don’t have one go to superstar but they get big games from a variety of players.
Wednesday night against the Grizzlies, Paul Millsap struggled only shooting 2-9 from the field. Jeff Teague stepped up to score 25 points and they got 13 points off the bench from Pero Antic including 3-4 shooting from beyond the arc. The Hawks are third in points allowed this season and only allowed the Grizz to score 86 points.
The Detroit Pistons got rid of Josh Smith and started winning. They won five in a row against inferior opponents; yes this includes the Cleveland Cavaliers. However in their last two games they beat the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks on the road. They held the high scoring Mavericks to only 95 points.
This is a whole new team without Josh Smith. Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond have improved since Smith was released. Wednesday night against the Mavericks Greg Monroe scored 27 points while grabbing 18 rebounds. Andre Drummond only scored six points but he grabbed 19 rebounds. The Pistons destroyed the Mavericks on the glass 60-43.
The Hawks are on a six game winning streak. In their last three games they beat the Blazers and Clippers on the road and the Memphis Grizzlies. Those are very good wins for an Eastern Conference team.
The Pistons are on a season high seven game winning streak. They are slowly moving up this weak Eastern Conference and are three games out of the eighth spot.
These are the two hottest teams in the league right now. The Pistons defense has improved and the Hawks have a surprisingly good defense. This is another good test for the Pistons as they change their season around.
