Eric Bledsoe and his agent Rich Paul have dropped the ball. There are rumors going around suggesting the Timberwolves are willing to offer Bledsoe the four-year $63 million maximum contract he wants but only if they can do a sign-and-trade with the Suns to dump contracts.
The Suns are a young team that loves to shoot threes. They have no need for Kevin Martin, JJ Barea, Corey Brewer or even Ricky Rubio. Sure Bledsoe would look nice on the Timberwolves next to Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Zach LaVine. Eric Bledsoe is upset with the Suns because they wouldn’t give him the max that he wanted.
Bledsoe is only 24 and he has plenty of talent. He’s played over 70 games just twice in his career. He only played in 43 games this past season. He played well with Goran Dragic as the Suns shocked the basketball world by winning 48 games. The Suns then offered Bledsoe a great contract, four-year $48 million in July but Bledsoe and his representatives rejected it.
He is coming off his best season and he still wasn’t healthy. He should of took the deal and got his money. Bledsoe can sign a $3.7 million qualifying offer and become a free agent in July 2015. He does not have a history of being healthy and this would be the riskiest move for him.
The Suns have had added Isaiah Thomas from the Sacramento Kings and they drafted Tyler Ennis from Syracuse. They won’t have a problem at the point guard position if they do deal Eric Bledsoe. He has to play in at least 75 games if he hopes to get a max deal in the off season. Any injury or surgery would drop his value immediately.
