There are thirteen games on the schedule tonight. The ESPN game has the New York Knicks visiting the Dallas Mavericks at 7:30 pm. Carmelo Anthony might not play due to back spasms. The NBA TV game at 10:30 has the Grizzlies visiting the LA Lakers.
There are three games on the schedule that could be entertaining. The Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors @ Atlanta Hawks and the Sacramento Kings @ Houston Rockets.
Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers 7:00 pm
The Wizards put a beating on the Cavaliers last Friday at home to send the Cavs below .500 on the season.
Since then Cleveland finally put together a good basketball game and got a win. The Wizards dropped one at home last night against the Hawks.
Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters have another crack at the John Wall and Bradley Beal. Last game Wall outscored both Irving & Waiters 28-24.
The Cavs gave up 50 points in the paint and had 19 turnovers that led to 24 points. The Wizards had 24 assists compared to only 13 for the Cavaliers.
Cleveland still needs to sure up their defense if they want to beat the better teams in the league. Washington is second in the East with a 9-4 record. In their previous matchup the Wizards held the Cavs to a season low 78 points.
Toronto Raptors @ Atlanta Hawks 7:30 pm
The Raptors are the best team in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks have been inconsistent this season. After dropping a game at home against the Lakers they have bounced back with two wins including beat the Wizards on the road.
Jeff Teague has put up 28 points in the last two games and Paul Millsap has put up back-to-back double-doubles.
The Raptors are on a five game win streak. They have been getting contributions from the “others” on the roster. Louis Williams was named Player of the Week, Jonas Valanciunas just had a career high 27 points.
The Lowry-Teague matchup should be entertaining. Teague has been pretty good recently and Lowry has taken on every challenge this season. He had a great defensive play against Eric Bledsoe to help seal the win on Monday night.
Sacramento Kings @ Houston Rockets 8:00 pm
The Kings are coming off a good win at the Pelicans last night. They head into Houston to face a team that has the second best defense in the league.
The Rockets are 2-1 without Dwight Howard as he continues to deal with a knee injury. James Harden has been more aggressive on the offense end with Howard out. He put up back-to-back 30 point games for the first time this season.
The Kings might be without Rudy Gay and Darren Collison once again. Omri Casspi started last night and played great scoring a season high 22 points.
The Rockets will have their hands full trying to stop DeMarcus Cousins without Dwight Howard. Houston loves to shoot three pointers as they lead the league with 34 three point attempts per game. They hit about 12 per game so the Kings must run them off the three point line.
The Kings will need Ben McLemore to be aggressive like he was last night. He has to make James Harden play defense.
