There are a few good games on Monday night. NBA TV has two games on the schedule; Denver Nuggets @ Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls @ LA Clippers. The Bulls-Clippers game should be a good one.
On NBA League Pass I would recommend checking out the Dallas Mavericks-Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans-Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets-Memphis Grizzlies game.
Dallas Mavericks @ Charlotte Hornets 7:00 pm
The Charlotte Hornets had a tough four game Western Conference trip, going 1-3. They gave the Lakers their only win of the season and were blown out by Golden State on Saturday night.
The Dallas Mavericks on the other hand are on a three game winning streak. They have scored over 120 points in their past two games, granted it was against the Sixers and Wolves.
The Hornets are 3-1 at home while the Mavs are 2-2 on the road. Charlotte has the advantage on the glass but struggle to score and is not that great on the defensive end at this point in the season. The Mavs are first in scoring and sit right behind the Hornets in points allowed.
If the Hornets can control the pace and make it an ugly game they have a chance to get a much needed win.
Houston Rockets @ Memphis Grizzlies 8:00 pm
The top two teams in the Western Conference; both have records of 9-1.
The Rockets are coming off an ugly win at Oklahoma City and will look to have a much better performance in Memphis.
The Grizzlies make every game a grind. They lead the league in opponent points per game at 91.3. They are 5-0 at home so it will be a tough game for the Rockets.
The Rockets put up a lot of three pointers and score 101.6 points per game. However the Rockets are second in the league in opponent points per game. Their defense has been a surprise this season although they haven’t had the toughest schedule.
The matchups of Tony Allen-James Harden and Marc Gasol-Dwight Howard will be great. Zach Randolph should have a big game with the absence of Terrance Jones. He’s coming off a 17 point, 22 rebound game against the Pistons who have a decent frontline.
New Orleans Pelicans @ Portland Trail Blazers 10:00 pm
This is the Pelicans first game since dropping 139 points on the Wolves on Friday night. This will be the first of a four game road trip for the Pelicans. This will be a good test for this young Pelicans team.
The Trail Blazers lead the league in rebounds, are seventh in scoring and are on a four game winning streak.
The matchup of the night will be Anthony Davis-LaMarcus Aldridge. Hopefully they guard each other throughout the game. Aldridge will bring Davis out of the paint with his mid-range game. Davis will do the same to Aldridge as he moves well without the basketball.
Wesley Matthews will a big game if he is guarded by Eric Gordon. The Blazers will pull away late at home.
