Thursday Night TNT games; Bulls @ Raptors, Nets @ Warriors

There are four games on the schedule tonight. Of course there are the two TNT games which should be good. First the Chicago Bulls visit the Toronto Raptors and then the Brooklyn Nets visit the Golden State Warriors. The one game not on TNT that might be good is the Sacramento Kings @ Memphis Grizzlies.

Sacramento Kings @ Memphis Grizzlies 8 pm (League Pass)

DeMarcus Cousins will have his hands full going against Marc Gasol.

The Kings recently blew a big lead against the Mavericks on the road. They were without starting point guard Darren Collison. The Kings are 5-3 and will face the number one defense in the Grizzlies. Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins have played great. Cousins struggles against the frontline of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph.

The Grizzlies sit atop the Western Conference at 7-1. Led by a more aggressive Marc Gasol and a double-double machine in Zach Randolph the Grizzlies will look to continue their dominance against the Kings. They have won seven straight against them.

The Grizzlies will make it an ugly game. Ben McLemore has played better recently but Tony Allen will slow him down. Rudy Gay will need to have a big game if the Kings want to upset the Grizzlies because Cousins will have his hands full in the paint with Gasol and Randolph. The Grizzlies will win a tough game at home.

Chicago Bulls @ Toronto Raptors 8 pm (TNT)

DeMar DeRozan has had big games against Jimmy Butler but they have not led to wins for the Raptors.

The Raptors are 5-0 at home and 7-1 overall sitting atop the Eastern Conference. The Bulls are 6-2 and 4-0 on the road so it should be a good matchup tonight.

The Raptors are first in points per game and seventh in points allowed. The Bulls are a surprising eighth in points per game. Both teams have six players in double figures.

The matchup of guards will be great if Derrick Rose plays tonight. He has been in and out of the lineup due to sprained ankles. DeMar DeRozan will have a tough matchup against Jimmy Butler and a Kyle Lowry-Rose matchup would be a clash of two different types of players.

The Bulls have the advantage on the frontline with Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson. Gasol has a mismatch going against Amir Johnson. The Bulls have to run their offense through Gasol. If they can control the glass, they can control the tempo to slow down the Raptors.

At home the Raptors bench players will play well. They played well in their last game against the Magic, scoring 36 points.

If Rose plays Chicago wins a close game. If he sits the Raptors win.

Brooklyn Nets @ Golden State Warriors 10:30 pm (TNT)

After starting the season 5-0 the Warriors have lost two in a row. In those two games the Warriors had a combined 45 turnovers. They lead the league in turnovers per game which keeps teams in the game.

The Nets blew the game against the Suns last night. They came out with a lot of energy and had a 19 point lead but slowly faded away, only scoring 21 and 20 points in the third and fourth quarter.

Steph Curry and Klay Thompson will carry the scoring load but Curry has to do a better job protecting the ball. He’s had 13 turnovers in the last two games including 10 against the Suns.

Curry was 0-7 from downtown against the Spurs so expect him to get it going early against the Nets.

The Nets won’t have enough fire power to keep up with Curry and Thompson. If Mirza Teletovic can get it going from downtown he could keep the game close. The Warriors win in a blowout at home.
