NBA MVP Kevin Durant has suffered a fractured foot and will be out 6-8 weeks.
The Thunder were without Russell Westbrook last year for stretches throughout the season. This year Westbrook will have to carry the Thunder while Durant is out. The traditional treatment requires surgery.
Durant has been very durable for the Thunder missing just six in the last five seasons. During that time he was 1st in games, minutes and points. Durant backed out of this summer from participating with team USA because he needed rest.
The Thunder don’t really have a backup to replace Durant in the lineup. Maybe Perry Jones will get the start in his absences. Westbrook and Jackson will have to pick up the scoring load. Expect to see big numbers from Westbrook early and often.
